Good Things Come in Small Packages

Sometimes, a little retail therapy is all you need!

I was having one of those weeks where everything was stressful and everything seemed to be going wrong.  Then today, I woke up and the sun was shining, the weather was amazing, and everything seemed to get better from there!  I have a semi-formal event that I am attending this weekend, so I thought I would take a look at TJ Maxx for some shoes before class this afternoon.  I didn’t find any shoes, but I DID find something better!

I have been wanting a ring with a bow on it for probably about 2 years now.  I found one that I really liked, but it turned out to be much more expensive than I wanted to (or could) spend.  It was around $300, which was just not what I was looking for.  Granted, it was white gold and diamond, so it was worth the money.  But alas, a full time student just can’t have everything.  So I have searched, sometimes actively, sometimes more passively, since then for just the perfect one.  A few months ago, I saw a Juicy Couture one on Pinterest that I basically fell in love with.  After stalking it only to find that it was no longer in stock or available, I was so disappointed.

Today, when I walked into TJ Maxx, I had no idea that it would be waiting for me in the jewelry case!  I was absolutely thrilled to have found it so unexpectedly.  I asked the salesperson to try it on, and although it was a bit snug for my ring finger, it fit my pinky perfectly!  So… I asked how much it was, and, can you believe it???  It was only $19.99!!!  My day was officially made!

So, without further ado, please allow me to introduce you to my new favorite thing!

Even the box is pretty!

So pretty!

As it turns out, the Juicy Couture Wishes Pave Ring can be found online in a couple of locations, though it seems to currently be out of stock where I’ve seen it.  If you’re interested, you can find more information (and a clearer photo!) here.

Have you recently participated in some retail therapy and made a purchase that you are totally happy with?  Please feel free to share in the comments!

Fun Frame!

Last weekend, my fiance was playing a video game on the computer WHILE watching UFC.  Ummm… no thank you!  So in an effort to not be overwhelmed by his manliness, I baked the healthy banana nut muffins from my earlier post and decided to be a little crafty, too!  The project below was the result of that craft adventure… A three tiered frame that I decorated to reflect the three groups of girls I love!

This is the glitter spray paint that I used at the end

This was the clever idea my fiance had to let the glitter paint dry after I sprayed it on outside!

Here’s a close up with the glitter!

I had a lot of fun making this project, and I can’t wait to put the photos in (I just have to find somewhere that will print them at the 3.5 x 3.5 size or get some photo paper for home!) and hang it up!  Have you made any fun craft projects lately?

Add Some Sparkle

Hitting the after-Christmas sales is one of my favorite things!  Although the selection is a bit slimmer than earlier in the season, it’s a great time to grab the few things that you didn’t want to buy because you weren’t sure if you’d get them as gifts or for those times when you were waiting for a little Christmas cash!

Here’s one of my after-Christmas sale finds!  I got both of these bracelets from the Loft for less than $10!  I love that they’re a bit stretchy so they fit any size wrist, but they still hold their shape like a bangle.  They had a few colors (I loved them all!) but I decided on the navy and gray to match all of my Penn State gear!

Sparkle!

These bracelets are a great way to add just a little extra sparkle to an outfit, I think!  They’re subtle but feminine, fun and flirty!  I just love them!

What are some of your favorite new accessories?

Party Nails

I’ll be the first to admit that I do not take care of my finger nails as well as I should.  But that doesn’t mean that I can’t have fun painting them!  I bought a new polish this week and came up with a combo that I think is really fun.  It’s like my nails are throwing a party!

Here’s what I used:

Left: Charlotte Russe “Nude”

Center: OPI RapiDry Top Coat

Right: Sally Hansen “Strobe Light” (This is the new one I bought this week. I found it at Target for about $2!)

Strobe Light is just glitter with no underlying color, so I thought the pinkish undertone to the Charlotte Russe color would be great underneath!  Of course, you could just use the Strobe Light alone or choose a different color for underneath (I was thinking of trying the New Lilac from my Summer Styles post next!)… whatever sounds good to you!

It turned out that I only needed one coat of the Nude color…  It looked at first like it was going to be streaky and need at least one more coat, but it evened out just fine when it dried.  I did 1-2 coats of the Strobe Light depending on how the glitter dispersed on each individual nail, but most only needed one.  It’s a bit difficult to tell in the photos, but the color combo turned out great and the glitter is fun without being overwhelming.

Easy to do, fun, and flirty… I like it!

What are some of your favorite nail shades lately?  I’m having tons of fun trying new ones, so I look forward to any recommendations!
